About Harvest: The five W's

WHO started it all?

Senior/Founding Pastor Ken Morris and his wife Jeanie.

WHAT were they thinking?

After taking a brief holiday to Scotland in 1997, Ken and Jeanie were struck by the numerous closed churches that seemed to dominate the landscape of Scotland. After much prayer and counsel, the Morris family moved from Texas to Scotland to begin one of the greatest adventures of their life – Church planting. After several thousand local surveys and much prayer they launched Harvest with the goal of connecting the many who had long given up on the Church being meaningful or relevant.

WHEN did HCF open its doors?

On the 9th of June, 2002, with a humble news ad and little fanfare, a local college lecture room was secured for the opening service. Approximately 15 people braved that first service! Humble beginnings with great expectations!

WHERE has this church taken root?

HCF has actually called many places home in their short history. We’ve gathered in lecture rooms, canteens, local schools, area-wide homes and community centres all across Hamilton. In spite of it all, Harvest continues to G-R-O-W! Some have adopted the motto, “If you can find us, you can worship with us!” Harvest continues to meet every Sunday, 10:30 AM at Hillhouse Community Centre (go here for directions)

WHY we do what we do?

It’s simple: we believe people matter to God and have dedicated ourselves to make sure they know it! Since our beginning, Harvest has been filled with people who may have never darkened the door of the traditional church. Even those who may have wondered away from their faith have been welcomed and discovered an environment of acceptance and encouragement. One of life’s greatest joys is helping people connect with God and with each other!
