Youth

Who we are...

Friday Nights... We meet on Friday evenings at St John’s Primary School, Dixon Street, Hamilton, ML3 6PZ from 7:00pm for Inspired teaching, games, activities and great friends. This is for S1-S6 (12-18’s). This is a great way to get involved in our youth ministry with roles for Adult leadership, Student Leadership, Musicians and vocalists, media lovers, servers and a whole lot more. There’s something for everyone @ Catch.

Youth Band... Our youth band program began back in January 2010 with a vision by Pastor Gary an ex worship leader and musician to assist the long term development of the local church body by growing it’s young people into using gifts they never believed they had within them. Under the guidance of the Lord the first band called, ‘Eternal Rising’ was started. We recruited five individuals from our youth who did not play an instrument and provided them with the equipment / instruments to make up a band of Drums, Acc. Guitar, Bass Guitar and Keyboard along with two singers. This band now plays regularly in the local church and at other events and outreaches. Eternal Rising have a real worship style playing many of today’s modern worship songs to assist local congregations. Our second band ‘Reach’ was started with younger teens in January 2011 again with complete beginners and little to no instruments. We started with an Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Acc. Guitar and two singers. Although the vocalists have moved on in this band just recently, the band continues to be a very bright shining light in the life of the local church and has recently added a keyboard player to the mix. This band plays quarterly within the main services at Harvest and they have a real electric edge to their sound. In January 2013 as God allows us Pastor Gary will be recruiting more complete novices to form our third youth band. If you would love to get involved as a musician or vocalist then please contact us using the contact email below.

Big Day’s of Serving... This is a fantastic opportunity to bless our local community through ‘one off’ days throughout the summer where the youth go out and assist the locals of our neighbourhoods with jobs such as gardening, cleaning, shopping for the elderly and infirm etc. To find out when these dates will be in the summer of 2013 contact us via the email address below.

Foreign Missions... Every two years Catch takes a team from within its youth ranks to one of the most poverty stricken areas in Europe. The local community in Backo Petereve Selo, based in the Northern part of Serbia, is full of desperate people who go days without any morsels of food. The homes are in an almost condemned status and unemployment is awful. The youth get to stay within the local church centre and reach out to these families through food packages, repair work and run a host of events such as week-long children’s clubs from 9am till 5pm where the children get fed two meals a day. Evening youth events for the local youth are run with movie, music and testimony nights and also we run a fun football tournament day for the locals. These are totally life changing events in the heart of any youngster. Our next tripped in planning will be held during the summer of 2013. If you would like more information or to sign up for this trip please use the email address below. Every year Catch also plays host to a visiting youth group where both groups join up together to form a formidable force to do outreach work in the local community of Hamilton. This year’s team came from Port Stewart Baptist Church in Northern Ireland and was an incredible week of experiencing God’s power, hard work, lots of fun and making of lifelong friends. If you have a team and would love to come to Scotland on a Mission trip to help in our local outreach work then contact us using the email address below.

Winter Camp... Every year during the February break we host our annual winter camp full of fun events in the heart of Mabbie Forrest in Dumfries. However his year we have announced the exciting news that we are heading to Rock Uk’s Whithaugh Park in the Scottish borders. We only have twenty six places in total. Next Camp dates are February 8th, 9th, 10th & 11th 2013. So if you would love to take up one of the remaining six places contact us immediately for information. The cost of all food, transport, accommodation and activities is just £99 per person.

Route 66... This is our Bible School discussion program that runs every Wednesday Evening in Pastor Gary’s home from 7-9pm. There’s a relaxed atmosphere of tea, coffee and biscuits before entering into a time of Bible based discussions. Every course varies in cycles from 3-12 wks after which each attendee sits a little exam and then is presented in the main services with their Certificate of completion. The courses that are running this semester year are;

1.      Becoming a Disciple (12 Wks) Aug 8th – Oct 31st

2.      The Foundations of Discipleship (7 Wks) Nov 7th – Dec 19th

3.      Understanding the Depth of Discipleship (7 Wks) Jan 9th – Feb 20th

4.      Growing as a Disciple (7 Wks) Feb 27th – Apr 24th

5.      Fruitfulness of Discipleship (7 Wks) May 1st – Jun 12th

Everything else... Throughout a 12 month period, Catch gets to run four main Sunday services, heads off for several day trips and outings, eats lots of Chilli and Kebabs, has an extraordinarily tasty tuck shop, runs various awesome monthly series with very funny sketches from people who always forget their lines and all because we believe that you can do anything, even if you are not perfect. So if you are aged 12-18 and are not perfect (like us) then come and join us and be part of our awesomely, famously, enjoyable fastest growing family. Catch youth pride themselves on being the ‘Friends of all and the enemies of none”.
